Cristina Villena-Ortega

Cristina Villena-Ortega is the Spanish designer behind criCRiC.

Cristina graduated from the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts in 2006 with a 1st BA (Hons) in Fashion Design Technology and Surface Textiles. Upon graduation, she received a sponsorship from Gruppo Lineapiu, one of Italy’s most established luxury yarn producers, which led to exhibiting a capsule knitwear collection at two of the leading trade shows of their kind: Pitti Filati in Florence and SpinExpo in Shanghai. Since then, she has worked for a number of renowned fashion designers.

Since becoming a mum, Cristina has been truly passionate and inspired by childrenswear, having used elements of this in her womenswear collections.

Remaining true to her roots and zeal, criCRiC was born in 2011. It was launched with a limited edition range of exquisite hand-made pyjamas for 1-10 year olds, influenced by classic prints and 40's style. Gradually, she incorporated daywear separate pieces like blouses, shirts and dresses maintaining her signature style and her already renowned focus on quality fabrics and luxury finish.

Cristina defines her design aesthetic as melancholic, romantic and elegant with a dash of quirkiness. Her approach is concise yet refined as her garments incorporate elements of hand finishing and unique attention to detail.

Her designs are very popular in Spain, United Kingdom, Australia and United Arab Emirates.

criCRiC has a cult following for its exclusive and limited edition pieces, consisting of just 10 to 40 pieces of each style in the whole world.

criCRiC originates from a nickname Cristina had as a child, which coincidently is the sound crickets make in Spanish.
